Changing Storm Door From Screen To Glass

It should slide into the frame as neatly as the glass panel did. Remove the glass and place the screen in the door opening. Insert the retainer strips in place. Reversing the screen in your storm door can be simple.

Use a screwdriver that has a narrow tip to fit it into the corners of the door. It is easy to dismantle not completely a storm door to take out the glass. A pella storm door comes with a glass panel installed but a screen can be purchased as an option. The glass or insect screen are secured using removable retainer strips on the interior of the door panel.

It should not go in between the screen and the door frame. Secure the screen panel to the door using the spring clips or screwed brackets. Tips for installing and removing retainer strips. We ll walk you through the steps.

Slide it into the door channel in front of the screen. Insert the screen panel into the door. Replace any weatherstripping or concealment devices. Loosen the two retainer strips holding the glass in the storm door before attempting to take the pane out.

To switch your storm door glass panel to your insect screen or vice versa follow the instructions provided in the youtube video and written instructions below. To do so nudge a thin blade or a flathead screwdriver between the door frame and the retaining strip gently pry it from the top of the glass and work your way in the opposite direction. The idea is to unscrew all the tiny screws that are usually hidden in the spaces where the door edges meet. Start at the top of the door and hold the retainer at about a 45 degree angle with the edge with writing on it facing you.
